Al G. Boom
My group was tasked with creating a campaign focused on regional water issues. Because the topic was broad, we narrowed our focus to algae blooms in the Palouse area.
To make the campaign accessible to a wide audience, I proposed using a cartoon character that could communicate the issue visually, without relying on text. This approach allows the message to be understood quickly and across different age groups and backgrounds.
From this concept, Al G. Bloom was created—a recognizable and approachable character designed to raise awareness about algae blooms while keeping the tone engaging rather than overwhelming. My role focused on concept development and visual direction, ensuring the character supported the campaign’s educational goals while remaining friendly and memorable.
